There are many peat bogs on the upper river, which give the river its distinctive peaty colour, and ultimately its name. The Munster Blackwater gets one of the biggest Salmon runs of any Irish river.

Our fishing rights are composed of four beats consisting of 3.5 miles of private and exclusive fishing rights mainly on the southern bank with beautiful stretches of streams and pools. It is perfect for all types of river fishing: fly spinning etc. The fishing beats are accessed by simply descending a stone staircase, along the rock, from the house directly to the river. Our Ghillie, Gerry Butler will be pleased to guide you around the beats for the first three days of your visit, you will benefit from his experience and knowledge of the river. |
